The Lincoln Project shared a simple but powerful message Monday in honor of July 4.
The organization shared a video with a rendition of “Let Freedom Ring” playing as the clip showcases various scenic locations from around the United States. “America is worth fighting for. If not you, who will?” an on-screen message at the end of the video says. Check out the new video below:

What The Lincoln Project shared is in striking contrast with what Trump had to say when July 4 dawned. On his alternative social media platform Truth Social, Trump started the day complaining about a recent statement from Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) that the House committee investigating the Capitol riot, where she serves as vice chair, may eventually issue a criminal referral implicating the former president. Such would not force the Justice Department to bring charges against Trump, but it would come with significant evidence against him. Trump subsequently shared a July 4 message that depicts the United States as in dire straits — something decidedly less hopeful than what came from The Lincoln Project and others, like former President Barack Obama.
“I know it’s not looking good for our Country right now, with a major War raging out of control in Europe, the Highest Inflation in memory, the worst 6 month Stock Market start in History, the highest Energy Prices EVER, and that is the Good News. Happy Fourth of July!!! ((Don’t worry, We will MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, and remember, none of these terrible events would have happened if I were President!!!))” Trump ranted. There’s obviously no particular real-world support for the idea Trump continuing to function as president would’ve somehow meant crises like worldwide inflation and the war between Russia and Ukraine would have been averted. When Trump was in office, he barely seemed to bother with even trying to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic in a remotely consistent fashion, even as the death toll mounted and the U.S. and world were thrown into further turmoil. Now, he’s largely focused on his personal, petty squabbles, as Americans face real-world challenges. How can complaints about imaginary election fraud fairy tales help low-income people put food on their tables?
