There was a time when, like him or hate him, Ted Cruz seemed sincerely bound to the principles of conservative values. His policies were harmful, often misguided, and he won elections in Texas more for the R after his name than his personality. He ran against Donald Trump in 2016 for the presidency on a traditional Republican platform while the bombastic Trump insulted his wife, his father, and Cruz himself.
Now, he’s pure MAGA, and he switched sides solely for the votes.
Understanding @tedcruz isn’t difficult. He lacks principle and has always been a chameleon who will say anything, anytime. He thinks he’s so smart no one can see through him. Ted, we can. All of us can.

Recently, Cruz has supported insane conspiracy theories, such as fear-mongering lies about adding 87,000 armed IRS agents to terrorize Americans and corruption at the FBI because Trump is being investigated for violations of the Espionage Act. There is almost no more dedicated Trump supporter than Cruz, who is happy to destroy the country as long as it gets him reelected.
Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) called Cruz out on Twitter on Tuesday, pointing out his gross lack of courage to stand up to Trump and his willingness to follow any trend regardless of whether it aligns with any former belief he’s expressed.

Cheney, one of the only two Republicans to stand up to Trump and call out the hypocrisy of her party, serves on the January 6th committee and was willing to give up her seat in Congress to do the right thing. Cruz, for all his pleas of conservatism and sincerity, cannot hold a candle to that kind of bravery and principled beliefs.
Twitter was largely in support of Cheney’s sentiments about her congressional colleague. Read some of their comments below:
