Secretary Hillary Clinton tweeted today about the ongoing scandal surrounding Donald Trump and his theft of 11,000 records. The FBI discovered 300 secret files scattered about Mar-a-Lago and 48 empty file folders. But instead, the GOP is still talking about the 113 emails she had on her home server, ad nauseam. Clinton said “I had zero emails that were classified.”
So how are the two security issues different?
Then FBI director James Comey broke policy by dragging Clinton’s email into the limelight right before the 2016 presidential election. Then, Comey took it all back.
He cited four reasons that Secretary Clinton did not meet the criteria for prosecution, according to The Washington Post:
- ‘Clearly intentional and willful mishandling of classified information.
- Vast quantities of materials exposed in such a way as to support an inference of intentional misconduct.
- Indications of disloyalty to the United States.
- Efforts to obstruct justice.’
Conversely, Trump managed to hit all four. Clinton tweeted “I had zero emails that were classified:”
‘I can’t believe we’re still talking about this, but my emails… As Trump’s problems continue to mount, the right is trying to make this about me again. There’s even a “Clinton Standard.” The fact is that I had zero emails that were classified.’
Yet in spite of Clinton’s evidence of no criminal activity, the Republicans continue trying to nail her to the wall.
