In remarks on the House floor following a Congressional deposition of the president’s son Hunter Biden, Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.) reminded his listeners of what he deemed “the real White House crime family.” He was referencing the Trumps, singling out former President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.

“Why did Saudi Arabia give Jared Kushner $2 billion — billion with a b — just months after he left the Trump White House?” Garcia asked, referencing money given to a Kushner-led investment venture. “Moreover, why did the Saudis spend hundreds of thousands of dollars at Trump properties while he was still the President? We also know that Jared Kushner used his cushy White House job to secure a $100 billion arms deal for Saudi Arabia and did other favors, as well.”

Garcia’s calls for scrutiny on the documented financial entanglements involving Kushner have been consistent amid House Republicans trying to put together something, somewhere that ensnares the Bidens. Garcia serves on the House Oversight Committee and was present for Hunter Biden’s recent deposition in Congress.

“The American people deserve answers. I rise yet again to urge my colleagues across the aisle to answer our calls and subpoena Jared Kushner’s companies once and for all. We are not stopping, and we demand answers,” Garcia added in Congress.

Hunter Biden’s deposition came amid an impeachment inquiry led by House Republicans that targets the president. Republicans have seemingly failed so far to conclusively connect the president to confirmed financial corruption involving his son, other family members, or anybody else. The younger Biden was consistent during his hours-long questioning by members of Congress in asserting that his father was not involved in his business activities. Republicans gave extensive air-time to allegations otherwise involving millions of dollars in supposed bribe money linking the Bidens to the Ukrainian company Burisma — and the ex-federal source behind that tale was indicted for allegedly lying to federal authorities and tied in reports to Russian intelligence circles. So, it’s going poorly!
