On his personal account on his knock-off social media site Truth Social, Trump continues to express his frustrations as his arraignment approaches this Tuesday in a criminal case that has emerged in Manhattan centering on part of the scandal of secret hush money that was given to Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 elections.
“I want to thank everybody for the tremendous support you have given me against this assault on our Nation,” he said in an angry weekend rant. “Our once beautiful USA is now a Nation in Decline. Radical Left Thugs & Insurrectionists have taken over our Country, & are rapidly destroying it. They are using the levers of Law Enforcement, and have completely Weaponized the FBI & DOJ to Interfere with, Rigg, and Steal our once SACRED ELECTIONS. We are now living in a THIRD WORLD COUNTRY, but we will Come Back & MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
Trump’s comments obviously aren’t realistic. Once he gets to the only attempt at real-world evidence for the bombastic and objectively ridiculous claims he made about the country’s current leadership, it’s just more of the same election nonsense that he’s been pushing ever since the 2020 race. It’s particularly rich, of course, for him to accuse the other side of harboring insurrectionists, considering the supporters of his who have been charged with sedition in tandem with the deadly attack on the Capitol back in 2021. What’s driving his outrage about the direction of the country centers on his own, very personal grievances in having lost a presidential election. Is it the COVID-19 pandemic that he’s referencing in all these feverish posts? The spark in child poverty following the end of the extra tax benefits established during the pandemic? Nope. It’s that he lost.
