Marjorie Greene Fails In House Hearing After Expert Witness Exposes Her Lies

During a House hearing this week on the origins of COVID-19, which — despite fading somewhat from immediate relevance for many — remains an obviously historically serious concern, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) spoke in general defense of the theory that the world-upending virus originated with a lab operation in China, something that has yet to be conclusively proven by the authorities who actually have the expertise to make such a showing.

Laughably, Greene claimed that many everyday Americans are also in general alignment with the theory of a lab leak, and while it’s obviously utterly critical to uphold the voice of the people in the handling of American government, it’s also utterly ridiculous to act as though random Joes are experts whose opinions on the origins of COVID-19 necessarily hold any actionable weight at all.

“We know that Dr. Fauci in the NIH funded, through grants, Eco-Alliance, with the gain of function research,” Greene complained in the hearing. “We know that for a fact! Our government paid for it. Our taxpayers, unfortunately, unknowingly paid for it. So we know all this to be true, and we know what was going on at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Mr. Lowenthal, with your dedication to being an analyst of information, why is it so hard to determine whether COVID-19 came from the Wuhan Institute of Virology or not?”

Dr. Mark Lowenthal, who Greene was addressing, apparently has a history of federal government work in relevant areas. “There was a vast, vast difference between tracking a leak on a social media site and determining the origins of this disease,” he remarked. Greene had bemoaned the speed with which federal authorities apprehended National Guardsman Jack Teixeira for his disclosure of sensitive military documents compared to the halting pace of investigations into the origins of the virus. Lowenthal credited those delays and struggles in part to the Chinese government’s stonewalling. “To compare the two is entirely fallacious, ma’am,” he continued.

Greene eventually remarked later in her questioning that perhaps Chinese authorities were involved with an attempt to affect the then-upcoming 2020 presidential race via the pandemic-causing virus. The world doesn’t revolve around Donald Trump, Marjorie! If something bad happens on the other side of the planet, there are, in fact, other plausible outcomes than that it was somehow targeted at the ex-president!
