Eric Swalwell Fiercely Rebuts Marjorie Taylor Greene After Her Attacks On FBI

During a hearing that was held this week of a subcommittee of the House Judiciary Committee, Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) exposed some of the truth of what Republicans actually promote.

In short, he spotlighted how Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and certain voices allied with her have taken up the cause of actually defunding certain arms of law enforcement, which makes any argument that they’re the last line of defense for so-called law and order utterly absurd.

“Their colleague continues to post this, and this is one of the colleagues who’s running the show here,” Swalwell said, as an evident staff member put a visual aid in place that shows Greene selling merch that advocates to defund the FBI. “There’s not a respect for laws or law enforcement. They want to defund the FBI! They raise money off of defunding the FBI. So again, we’ll sit here for another Browns loss, but it’s just too bad that the country’s going to have to go through this when we’re seeing healthcare not being addressed, our kids in classrooms not being protected, not taking on a climate chaos crisis across the globe.”

The hearing where Swalwell made these comments was intended to look at compliance — or the claimed lack thereof — by certain federal departments with investigative efforts helmed by Republicans. Witnesses included representatives from the Justice Department and the Department of Homeland Security. Elsewhere, Greene has actually introduced and promoted articles of impeachment against the current leaders of both those departments, alleging vast patterns of misconduct that the actual factual record just doesn’t support. The southern border is not and has not been “open,” and it’s just factually inaccurate to claim political calculations have somehow been the clincher in the investigations and now charges Trump has faced. They didn’t make it up that he harbored sensitive government docs and wouldn’t return them!
