Trump Talks About The Destruction Of America In Lunatic July 4 Rant

Donald Trump apparently wants you to be frightened on this Fourth of July.

“Happy FOURTH OF JULY to everyone. We are working hard, we will take back our Country, and MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. The 2024 Election is our LAST GREAT CHANCE!” he said in a message that he posted on his knock-off social media site Truth Social at just after 9 a.m. on the East Coast.

Before that commentary, his most recent posts consisted of reposting some other people’s content and a claim he’d never seen a hat in support of the Biden campaign, which… doesn’t really matter. The implication is that claims Biden received 81 million votes in the 2020 election must be bogus since hats supporting the now president aren’t, well, everywhere… which isn’t how it works.

In other words, Trump spent the lead-up to a holiday celebrating the democratic foundations of the United States by yet again clamoring against those very foundations, since that’s what the 2020 election results, in reality, represent: the democratically expressed will of Americans. In reality, no successful conspiracy to make something other than that be the case has ever been proven, so when Trump insists he was the winner in 2020, what he’s so fervently against is just the participation in democracy of millions of people nationwide.

Many of those whose areas were targeted by Trump and his allies in the wake of 2020 are also those whose home cities and states have historically seen voter suppression, putting Trump and his cronies firmly in the tradition of racist anti-voting agitators seen in history.

This Fourth of July, Biden and his administration have solid accomplishments on which to rest, like consistently low unemployment and persistently high rates of job creation alongside sinking inflation rates. Across the 12 months ending in May, the Labor Department reported inflation across all items to have reached four percent, dropping from significantly higher levels of price increase seen at other points. Energy as a whole was outright down nearly 12 percent across that same time period.
