Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) sounds convinced that Donald Trump will nab victory in the upcoming 2024 presidential race because of… a couple of guys at a restaurant?

On Tuesday, she posted a clip of herself asking a couple of men in an unexplained restaurant about their political intentions for the upcoming election, and both said they intended to stick with Trump, even if a stint in jail became a factor. Less than half a dozen people even appear in the main areas of the video, though Greene tried to make it mean something big. “Trump will win! The people are with him no matter what!” Greene wrote with the video, failing to explain who the people in the video actually were or where they were.

Elsewhere, Trump still claims that he was the rightful winner of the 2020 presidential election, though no established authority responsible for administering U.S. elections has meaningfully accepted this argument. Though Trump has tried to make the criminal charges he is now facing in connection to his attempts to remain in office into a free speech issue, he is not directly charged for only making remarks. His charges instead concern alleged conspiracies to effectively disrupt the peaceful transfer of presidential power.

During an appearance on CNN this past weekend, Trump lawyer John Lauro insisted — repeatedly — that the most recent transfer of power had actually been peaceful, seeming to host Dana Bash to ignore the basic realities of January 6, which she argued were intricately connected with how the transfer of authority actually went. Even later, when Biden took his oath of office to begin his present term, tens of thousands of National Guard troops had been authorized for deployment in security efforts after the thousands-strong, pro-Trump mobs of January 6 swarmed the Capitol complex and building with openly murderous intentions towards opponents of theirs.
