Trump Was Screaming Online About Letitia James Close To Midnight

Does Donald Trump do… anything besides post online angrily? The pace of his web commentary is so obsessive!

Very late on Sunday, as midnight approached on the East Coast, the former president and continued presidential candidate was on his alternative social media site Truth Social complaining about New York state Attorney General Letitia James, who brought a civil lawsuit against him and interests close to him accusing them of business fraud. The case has gone to trial in New York, though the presiding judge already found Trump to have perpetrated fraud.

By the end of Trump’s rant, he was posting yet again in all caps. He again shared the extreme claim of value for his Florida resort Mar-a-Lago that pins the property at up to $1.8 billion — an astronomical level of value for which it’s unclear there’s a shred of substantiating evidence. Notably, misrepresented values for various Trump assets underlie the case that James brought.

“My assets are worth MUCH MORE than listed on the 100% DISCLAIMED Financial Statements, and there are NO VICTIMS, EXCEPT ME,” he said, referring to disclaimers on financial statements that the presiding judge has already found weren’t sweeping enough to shield those involved from consequences for misrepresentations. “We WON on Statute of Limitations, and other things, at the Appeals Court, AND THIS RADICAL LEFT, TRUMP HATING JUDGE, REFUSES TO ACCEPT THEIR DECISION. THIS CASE SHOULD BE DROPPED, IMMEDIATELY. IT’S AMAZING! HE IS OUT OF CONTROL, AND TOTALLY AFRAID OF PEEKABOO. A COMPLETE MISCARRIAGE OF JUSTICE & ELECTION INTERFERENCE!”

Trump’s commentary on his legal cases so often devolves into bizarrely personal claims involving fear, intimidation, and conspiracy, no matter the underlying evidence actually at hand. Here, there’s no legitimate indication that the judge is “afraid” of the attorney general, and Trump’s description of his team having supposedly won on statute of limitations claims also clearly isn’t accurate. An appeals court did remove Ivanka Trump as a named target of the case, citing statute of limitations issues. That court didn’t remove the rest of them!
