GOP Senator Admits He Has ‘No Evidence’ Biden Is ‘Guilty Of Anything’

Speaking with CNN journalist Manu Raju, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) seemed to undercut the entire undertaking from Republicans across the Senate and House that has led to a now formally authorized impeachment inquiry targeting the president in the latter chamber.

Republicans, led in part by the party’s majorities on the House Judiciary and Oversight committees, have been pursuing evidence that could tie President Joe Biden to ostensibly corrupt business dealings involving family members of his, most prominently Hunter Biden. House Republicans subpoenaed Hunter for testimony, and the younger Biden — the president’s son — showed up in D.C. willing to testify… publicly, a prospect that Republicans rejected. Observers had been concerned about the possibility of bad actors essentially setting the narrative if Hunter first testified privately, which Republicans demanded.

Grassley — who has helped lead GOP investigative efforts on the Senate side related to these controversies — admitted he has no evidence clearly establishing guilt on the president’s part in relation to “anything.” So, why are Republicans in the House moving forward with an impeachment inquiry? A hunch? Just in case? They’re bored?

Grassley told Raju: “I’m going to take the same position I’ve taken since 2019 that all I can say is there’s some indication of maybe some compromise, with China particularly. But I have no evidence of it. And I’m going to just follow the facts where they are. And the facts haven’t taken me to that point where I can say that the president’s guilty of anything.” Notably, all Republicans in the House voted for the impeachment inquiry. Not one Republican abstained.
