Biden Puts House GOP Directly On Blast For Not Actually ‘Doing Anything’

Recently, Republicans in the House voted to formalize the impeachment inquiry they were already conducting that targets President Joe Biden on the foundation of baseless suspicions of connections on his part to ostensibly corrupt business dealings that involved family members of his.

Congressional Republicans have most prominently singled out the president’s son Hunter Biden for complaints, subpoenaing him to testify. The younger Biden showed up in D.C. prepared to testify publicly — which Republicans refused, instead demanding a closed-door session that some were concerned could give bad actors the opportunity to set the narrative, separate from the truth of his remarks. In all, this area of investigation has been a main focus for leading House Republicans, including the party’s majorities on the chamber’s Judiciary and Oversight committees. What could they be doing if they weren’t stuck on this, which has yet to show any serious signs of going anywhere, well, serious?

The president responded in prepared remarks. Citing concerns like providing assistance to Ukraine and keeping the federal government operational and on track for expanding its effectiveness, the president said: “I wake up every day focused on the issues facing the American people – real issues that impact their lives, and the strength and security of our country and the world. Unfortunately, House Republicans are not joining me. Instead of doing anything to help make Americans’ lives better, they are focused on attacking me with lies. Instead of doing their job on the urgent work that needs to be done, they are choosing to waste time on this baseless political stunt that even Republicans in Congress admit is not supported by facts.”

He also mentioned how Republicans have been recently occupied with drama around who’d be Speaker and the eventual expulsion of New York Republican George Santos, who in politics met his career’s end after a House Ethics Committee report accused him of egregious misuse of campaign funds. He’s also criminally charged.
