Biden Soars To 60 Percent Support In Pennsylvania Subgroup In New Polling

In new polling from Quinnipiac University, President Joe Biden got a large majority of the support from respondents 65 years of age and older in Pennsylvania when pitted against Donald Trump for a hypothetical rematch of the 2020 presidential election. Biden had 60 percent of the support, while Trump had just 37 percent.

The difference was significantly larger than the margin among registered voters in general, where Biden led but only by three percent. Pennsylvania was a central focus amid the 2020 race, with Biden winning the state after a Trump victory there in 2016. In the time since, Democrats have achieved success in statewide contests, sending John Fetterman, a Democrat, to the Senate over Republican Mehmet Oz (aka Dr. Oz) to replace Pat Toomey, a Republican who retired. Democrats also won in the race for governor concurrently held in 2022, when Doug Mastriano, a Trump-aligned state legislator, was the GOP pick.

Biden’s uncovered margin among voters 65 and up in the Quinnipiac polling breaks with the trend sometimes seen in this age group of support for Republicans. Exit polling from the 2020 race showed Trump winning among these voters by about five percent. The foundational pool of respondents constituting the core of the Quinnipiac survey group was registered voters.

Trump continues, meanwhile, to allege political — and specifically, electoral — motivations behind the wide-ranging criminal proceedings that he’s facing. He specifically contends that Biden himself bears responsibility for criminal charges against him, an allegation for which there’s just no evidence, even though Trump confidently laid out a specific scenario in which Biden supposedly directed that Trump be criminally charged. Making such a connection is even more absurd behind the two cases Trump is facing outside the federal judiciary that are instead transpiring in state courts.

Trump is already alleging, without evidence, the idea of looming electoral fraud ahead of this year’s races. He has specifically claimed that Democrats are aiming to sign up undocumented immigrants to vote. There’s no evidence that actually supports this claim.
