In a new post to his account on Truth Social, which is his knock-off social media site, Donald Trump — who remains on track to secure Republicans’ presidential nomination for this year’s elections — suggested he wants to see a “war” on the southern border of the United States. Other Republicans have suggested the same, threatening a conflict that could threaten Americans’ lives over an imaginary “invasion.”

“So, let me get this straight. We’re dropping bombs all over the Middle East, AGAIN (where I defeated ISIS!), and our Secretary of Defence, who just went missing for five days, is running the war from his laptop in a hospital room,” Trump bickered online Friday. “Remember, this is the same gang that “surrendered” in Afghanistan, where no one was held accountable or FIRED. It was the most embarrassing “moment” in the history of the United States. Now we have wars in Ukraine, Israel, and Yemen, but no “war” on our Southern Border. Oh, that makes a lot of sense.”

Trump is referring to new strikes in which the U.S. participated against targets in Yemen associated with the Houthi rebels. The apparent implication is that Trump reasons there more rightfully should be war at the border between the U.S. and Mexico. Elected Republicans continue straightforwardly lying about conditions at that border.

“With Joe Biden as president, everything has gone to hell: families can’t afford groceries, our border is wide open to a full-blown invasion, and our enemies are starting wars everywhere,” Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) recently claimed, providing an example of what’s very extensive rhetoric among Republicans. Articles of impeachment previously proposed against President Joe Biden even argued that foreign criminal organizations had taken operational control at the southern border, which was not true. And lately, Trump himself has been claiming that Dems are aiming to sign up undocumented immigrants to vote — which, again, is false. And not only is it false, but there’s not a single credible indication otherwise over which to even debate!
