Trump Claims There Would Be Peace On Earth If He Was Still The President

Following an incident in Jordan in which several U.S. soldiers were killed in an attack traced to what the president called Iran-backed militant groups, former President Donald Trump promptly began making bombastic claims about how much better he’d be handling the situation if still in office. Trump insisted that the violence and other damaging developments elsewhere would have been somehow totally averted if he still held the presidency.

“This attack would NEVER have happened if I was President, not even a chance – Just like the Iranian-backed Hamas attack on Israel would never have happened, the War in Ukraine would never have happened, and we would right now have Peace throughout the World. Instead, we are on the brink of World War 3,” Trump claimed, also misrepresenting the Biden administration as having given Iran billions of dollars. In fact, the Biden team didn’t “give” Iran anything. Billions of dollars in funds already tracing to Iran but in the banking system in Qatar were unfrozen — a move somewhat walked back after the violence against Israelis by the terror group Hamas seen in October.

Trump has made the claim previously that he can or somehow could’ve effectively shut down what’s become the extensive war in Ukraine launched by Russian forces in the beginning of 2022, but he’s never presented a specific plan by which such could actually be accomplished. In fact, his very real, documented antagonism towards the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), which is a mutual defense alliance including member countries throughout Eastern Europe near Ukraine, could have helped set up further violence by Russia if taken to its possible end point of the U.S. under potential leadership by Trump actually stepping back.

There wasn’t peace throughout the world when Trump was president the first time, anyway! His outreach to North Korea’s dictatorship produced hardly anything noticeable in the real world, as its weapons program continues. His administration upended the multi-country deal with Iran restricting its pursuit of nuclear capabilities. This is the real world, and the record is Trump fell short — leaving even the ambitions he started down of the U.S. withdrawing from Afghanistan to the next administration.
