Characteristically, voices on the Right promptly began using a recent attack on a military base in Jordan that resulted in the deaths of three U.S. soldiers to malign President Joe Biden. Without particular evidence or even an attempt at fully explaining, Trump claimed the incident wouldn’t have even happened if he was still in the White House.

In reality, there were also serious threats and damaging developments when Trump was in power. Now, the Biden administration has responded to the attack that killed three soldiers with strikes against targets linked to the interests held responsible.

“This afternoon, at my direction, U.S. military forces struck targets at facilities in Iraq and Syria that the IRGC and affiliated militia use to attack U.S. forces,” Biden said Friday in prepared remarks released by the White House. “Our response began today. It will continue at times and places of our choosing. The United States does not seek conflict in the Middle East or anywhere else in the world. But let all those who might seek to do us harm know this: If you harm an American, we will respond.”

Compare these developments with the glaring attempts by then-President Donald Trump to divert attention from Saudi leader Mohammed bin Salman as the foreign figure was widely believed culpable in the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, who had resided in the United States. And not only that, but Trump’s businesses seemingly made absolute bank from a Saudi fund helmed by the same figure through hosting events after Trump left office associated with LIV Golf, a newer league backed by financial interests in Saudi Arabia. And how about the billions of dollars also emanating from the country’s leadership that went towards a dubious investment fund helmed by Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner after leaving a stint in government, serving on Trump’s presidential team?
