Trump Was Yelling After Midnight About Imaginary Election Interference Plots

After midnight on what just became Monday on the East Coast, former President Donald Trump was ranting — in all caps, again — about the civil and criminal court cases that he continues to face. The list ranges from civil claims of defamation and sexual misconduct brought by writer E. Jean Carroll to New York state Attorney General Letitia James’ civil case accusing Trump of a years-long pattern of fraud. He also faces four criminal cases.

Trump again alleged — without evidence — that outside involvement and covert purposes were secretly behind his travails.

“REMEMBER, ALL OF THOSE TRIALS, AND ALL OF THAT LITIGATION YOU CONSTANTLY READ AND HEAR ABOUT, FEDERAL, STATE, & LOCAL – CRIMINAL & CIVIL – IS BROUGHT TO YOU BY CROOKED JOE BIDEN, AND HIS THUGS AT THE DOJ, IN ORDER TO INTERFERE WITH THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION OF 2024,” Trump said. “THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED SO BLATANTLY IN THE USA BEFORE, ONLY IN THIRD WORLD COUNTRIES. WATCH FOR IT, THE RADICAL LEFT DEMOCRATS NEW WAY OF CHEATING. THEY ARE DESTROYING OUR COUNTRY — BUT WE WILL WIN & MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!”

There is no evidence of direct involvement by the current president or his White House team in Trump’s extensive courtroom troubles.

In fact, prosecutors on one of Trump’s federal cases have explicitly stated in a court filing that they’d quit if the opposite were actually true. Biden “has no role in this case, and the career prosecutors handling this matter would not participate in this prosecution if it were otherwise,” they said. Special Counsel Jack Smith, who is handling the case, was selected by Biden nominee Merrick Garland, the Senate-confirmed figure leading the Justice Department. Smith now operates in generally independent terms, without daily reporting to figures closest to the president.

And throughout these processes, Trump has retained the opportunity to bring forth grievances subsequently heard out by the justice system to the point that one trial on claims from Smith is indefinitely on hold as Trump pursues a challenge to the case’s very foundation.
