Former President Donald Trump started complaining Wednesday on his personal account on Truth Social about… this year’s edition of the Academy Awards, for some reason. The awards ceremony took place more than a month ago, in early March.
“Stupid Jimmy Kimmel, who still hasn’t recovered from his horrendous performance and big ratings drop as Host of The Academy Awards, especially when he showed he suffered from TDS, commonly known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, to the entire World by reading on air my TRUTH about how bad a job he was doing that night, right before he stumbled through announcing the biggest award of all, “Picture of the Year,”” the former president rambled to his followers on the social media site. “It was a CLASSIC CHOKE, one of the biggest ever in show business, and to top it off, he forgot to say the famous and mandatory line, “AND THE WINNER IS.” Instead he stammered around as he opened the envelope.”
Trump is referring to Kimmel’s decision to read — on the air — social media criticism posted that night by the former president. Kimmel, though, did not present the award for “Best Picture” — which is what the actual award that Trump is trying to reference is called.
Doesn’t Trump have other developments with which to concern himself, anyway? The former president remains on trial in criminal proceedings in New York City on allegations of falsifying business records in connection to hush money from before the 2016 elections for a woman named Stormy Daniels. Proceedings kicked off this week in part with jury selection, a process amid which Trump — compelled to be present — was seeing firsthand how critically some everyday Americans really view him. Trump’s requirement to attend the proceedings will continue throughout the trial’s duration, with a threat of imminent arrest if he doesn’t show up for court.
