No one appreciates a sore loser, but Florida’s Governor Rick Scott (R) has been trying to make certain that he wins his state’s U.S. Senate seat. He ran against incumbent Senator Bill Nelson (D), but when the results got too close he started trying to cheat. Scott was charged by the Florida Democratic Party in that he “oversaw the largest Medicare fraud in the nation’s history.” Politifact deem the incident mostly true, so Scott probably is pretty good at it.
Scott appeared on Fox News Sunday to make his case that he was the injured party. That was interesting, given that the two men were just within the recount numbers. Technically, Nelson was behind, but this was what Scott did:

Scott said Nelson was:
‘…clearly trying to commit fraud to win this election. That’s all this is,” Scott said on “Fox News Sunday. His lawyer said that a noncitizen should vote. Thatâs one. Number two, heâs gone to trial and said that fraudulent ballots should be counted. Ballots have already been thrown out because they were not done properly. He said those should be counted.’
The sitting senator has sued Florida’s secretary of state, due to the process the department used for mail-in ballot validation. It claimed that Florida’s:
‘…standardless, inconsistent, and unreliable signature matching process âĤ subjects Florida voters to disparate treatment and inconsistent standards.’
Nelson’s lead recount attorney, Marc Elias, said:
‘The lawyer who was present was not someone we had authorized to make such an objection. Non-citizens cannot vote in US elections.’
Scott said:
‘Bill Nelsonâs a sore loser. Heâs been in politics way too long. 42 years. He just wonât give up.’
The campaign released a tape of Nelson responding to Nelson’s accusations.
‘Clearly, Rick Scott is trying to stop all the votes from being counted and heâs impeding the democratic process. You can see this from his irresponsible, unethical and unprecedented press statement last night that heâs worried and heâs desperate. The reason why he feels that way is obvious: we believe when every legal ballot is counted weâll win this election.’
This process is about one thing: making sure that every legal ballot is counted and protecting the right of every Floridian to participate in our democracy. pic.twitter.com/nK7xPk9y82
