Rabid nationalists and racists around the world have a friend in President Donald Trump. Yet again this weekend, he took to Twitter to amplify their message, and among other reweeted points from noted British racist Katie Hopkins, Trump claimed that a London police Twitter account getting hacked exemplifies supposed incompetence on the part of London Mayor Sadiq Khan — although it just really doesn’t. Why should he be held responsible for a social media mishap at an agency he doesn’t even directly oversee? Trump just likes shouting — literally and metaphorically — and will use every chance he gets, especially if it involves getting to bask in the glow of a racist supporter or two or more, considering he also yet again praised the attendees at a recent rally of his where chants of “Send her back!” broke out targeting Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar.
Along those lines, Trump also insisted Saturday morning that you “can add 10% or 15% to” his documented approval rating because… he said so? It’s not like he presented any evidence besides the wildly outlandish assertion that the U.S. economy is “doing better than EVER before.” His claim to have accomplished more for the U.S. than almost any other president in American history got literal laughs at the United Nations, but he’s still using it anyway.
Hopkins also praised Trump for helping spark the latest surge of people demanding immigrants who disagree with them be sent back to where they came from, although he again tried to strike out into some nonexistent middle ground between here loving the people who chanted “Send her back!” at a recent rally and — in his estimation — having done “nothing” to lead people on. In reality, he personally sparked the idea of immigrants going back to where they came from just days previously. It’s really not that complicated.
As you can see, I did nothing to lead people on, nor was I particularly happy with their chant. Just a very big and patriotic crowd. They love the USA! https://t.co/6IVKEffNnq

Trump doesn’t get to not be racist just because he says so. Singling out people for harassment on the basis of their race is… wait for it… racist.
