Trump repeatedly proves that the U.S. Constitution is a confusing mystery to him. He’s made statements in the past that he can, as president, ban an entire religion, take people’s guns before proving that the person has committed any crime, and repeatedly told his supporters that he will “lock up” his former political opponent despite the fact that she’s never been convicted of a crime after numerous investigations into drummed-up scandals.

In a Fox News interview on Thursday morning, he also proved that he does not understand how impeachment of a president works although the Constitution directly explains how and why it can be done.

The U.S. Constitution lays out the grounds on which a president can be impeached in Article II, Section 4.
‘The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.’
Trump should probably note that this clause in the law of the land provides absolutely no provision that a president should be considered above the law if the economy is doing well. Of course, the economy is not exactly doing as well as it did under President Obama (job growth has slowed and wages are down for the first time in many months), but Trump will never admit that.
There is also a second reason that a president can be impeached. In the 25th Amendment, it that second provision says that a president can be impeached if he is unable to perform his duties as president. Considering the boundless proof that Trump is mentally incompetent, he should have been impeached under the 25th Amendment long ago.
