Donald Trump still believes that he can bully House of Representative Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA). She informed him originally that there would not be enough security to be safe for his State of the Union address in the House. He wrote back and told her no problem, POTUS would bring his own security. She said no, not in her House. This is how he took it.
At the beginning of a cabinet meeting, the president took a few questions from reporters. One of them told him that Pelosi said no to his letter that informed her he was giving the State of the Union.
It was the first he had heard of her saying no. A person could see him swallowing the news like a large, bitter pill, but showman that he is he gathered his composure quickly saying the Democrats have “…become radicalized. They don’t want to see crime stopped,” according to CNN:
”’I’m not surprised. It’s really a shame what’s happening with the Democrats,” President Trump says in response to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi saying there will be no State of the Union until the government reopens.’

When cameras caught up with Speaker Pelosi just prior to the president’s statement, she said that there would be no State of the Union in her House, because the government was shut down:
‘I am writing to inform you that the House of Representatives will not consider a concurrent resolution authorizing the President’s State of the Union address in the House Chamber until the government has opened.’
When reporters asked Trump about a new venue, he only replied “We’ll see.”
