Donald Trump wanted to pull all of the nation’s attention toward his meeting with North Korea’s dictator, Kim Jong Un. After all, he was in Hanoi, Vietnam for the first time, having effectively and perhaps fraudulently avoided his military service in the Vietnam war. Yet, even he could not resist the pull of his personal attorney and fixer Michael Cohen’s testimony before the House Oversight and Government Reform committee. This was POTUS last attempt to highlight his no big deal.
There was no deal with Kim, which was a good thing. Last time, the president gave away vital military exercises. Some feared that Trump would bring home the troops stationed along the demilitarized zone and leave South Korea vulnerable to North Korea’s attack. The man currently sitting in the Oval Office tweeted about Vietnam’s “President Trong” and “Prime Minister Phuc:”
‘THANK YOU to our generous hosts in Hanoi this week: President Trong, Prime Minister Phuc, and the wonderful people of Vietnam!’

Then, the president’s State department released this tweet about his Hanoi press conference:
‘President @realDonaldTrump and @SecPompeo participate in a Press Conference in Hanoi, Vietnam, on February 28, 2019.
