Donald Trump’s Twitter feed can often be timed in coordination with whatever story is being aired on Fox News, and especially Trump’s favorite show, Fox & Friends, and Friday morning’s rant was no different.
It’s no surprise that the morning stories on Fox News included guests Rush Limbaugh and Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) and that Trump quickly retweeted their supportive statements. Other stories included Fox News ratings over CNN and a “credibility crisis” that the longtime respected news organization has suffered under the presidency of Trump, who routinely refers to them as “the enemy of the people,” the border wall, and Trump’s trade policies.
Despite Trump’s endless promotion of tariffs as a form of punishment against countries with whom the United States does trade, American farmers had to be subsidized by the federal government because tariffs are destroying their livelihood. Trump’s repeated claims that the U.S., the wealthiest country in the world, is being “mistreated” have not been met with feasible trade policies or effects that only punish those countries; Trump’s policies are detrimental to American consumers.
It’s a study in irony to hear a president who routinely lies and promotes fake news by sites like Brietbart and The Washington Examiner criticize any news network for a lack of credibility, especially when Americans overwhelmingly say that they don’t trust him to tell the truth about virtually anything.
Twitter was quick to respond and remind Trump of these points and much more. Read some of their comments below:
