Joe Biden Stands Strong For Goodyear With Rebuttal To Trump

Are we not just too proud to have a United States president who is pettier than a catty sixth-grade schoolgirl? The whole situation began when Donald Trump discovered that one of Ohio’s largest employers Goodyear Tire and Rubber company did not want them wearing political attire. Trump descended on the company’s neck with all the speed of a hungry falcon.

POTUS immediately called for a boycott of the century-old Akron-based company. In a Wednesday tweet, he claimed:

‘Don’t buy GOODYEAR TIRES – They announced a BAN ON MAGA HATS. Get better tires for far less! (This is what the Radical Left Democrats do. Two can play the same game, and we have to start playing it now!).

In response, Goodyear said that it had never allowed people working there to be involved in any sort of political campaigning on the job. Of course, that included not wearing the red MAGA hats. The company said the reason was to create an inclusive and respectful workplace environment, Fox 8 reported.

Ohio legislators had a few words to say about that. US Senator Sherrod Brown tweeted:

‘It’s absolutely despicable that the President would call for a boycott of an American company, based in Akron, that employs thousands of U.S. workers. https://t.co/0wI5CT1zjG

‘Keep in mind, this is a President who spent years making his own Trump-branded products overseas. He failed to stand up for workers in Lordstown, and now he betrays the workers in Akron.’

US Representative Tim Ryan said:

‘This shows the problem that @realDonaldTrump has—that it’s more about him than it is about other people. He’s directly saying he wants to put you out of a job. https://t.co/O7GAQFOxt6

US Representative Marcia Fudge added:

‘The President’s calls for a boycott of Goodyear, a century-old Akron-based company that employs thousands of hardworking men and women, are shameful and unbecoming of the office of the President.

‘In Northeast Ohio, we support our workers.

U.S. Senator Rob Portman issued the following statement to FOX 8:

‘I believe private companies are free to set their own guidelines, but I would hope they would do it fairly and objectively, with respect for free speech.’

Then, the Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden came down hard on Trump’s attitude:

‘Goodyear employs thousands of American workers, including in Ohio where it is headquartered. To President Trump, those workers and their jobs aren’t a source of pride, just collateral damage in yet another one of his political attacks. ‘

‘President Trump doesn’t have a clue about the dignity and worth that comes with good-paying union jobs at places like Goodyear — jobs that can support a family and sustain a community. And even after 170,000 have died due to his mismanaged response to this pandemic, President Trump still keeps taking his eyes off the ball, getting distracted by petty political grievances instead of doing his job and stopping the virus.

‘Here’s the deal: when I’m President, we’re going to make made-in-America real again. We’re going to stand up to unfair competition, just like we did with Chinese tires in the Obama-Biden Administration, and we’re going to make major investments in American manufacturing and innovation so our factories and our workers can outcompete the world for generations to come.’
