Reps. Sara Jacobs (D-Calif.) and Nikema Williams (R-Ga.) have joined together for a new resolution calling for the censure and resignation of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) in the wake of new public revelations of some of her incendiary comments. Among other examples, on one occasion, she liked a Facebook comment speaking approvingly of a “bullet to the head” for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), and although Greene tried to credit unnamed “teams of people” with certain social media activity in her name, she herself was caught on camera characterizing Pelosi as guilty of a “crime punishable by death.”

Greene’s incendiary behavior goes well on from there. On social media, she even repeatedly responded in agreement to comments referring to the 2018 Parkland shooting as a “false flag planned shooting” and “fake.”

Jacobs commented as follows:

‘We saw on January 6th what can happen when elected leaders use their positions of public trust to encourage and incite violence. Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has repeatedly demonstrated her support for the execution of leaders of the Democratic Party, and her presence in Congress is a threat to our democracy, our institutions, and the safety of every person who works in the Capitol. As someone with experience working in post-conflict settings, I know that it is imperative that we act swiftly to hold her accountable, and I am proud to introduce this resolution with Congresswoman Williams.’

On Twitter, Jacobs added that she “can’t actually start fires with a space laser, but [she] can hold Marjorie Taylor Greene accountable for saying [she] can and calling for the execution of our nation’s elected leaders.” Among other resurfaced comments from Greene, the eventual Congresswoman once suggested that a deadly wildfire in California could have been caused by a laser beam from space whose origin had some connection to the Rothschilds, a Jewish family involved in banking that has also been the subject of a list of frenzied anti-Semitic conspiracy theories. Jacobs herself is also Jewish.

Rep. Williams added as follows:

‘Congresswoman Greene’s comments and actions are dangerous, unpatriotic, and a clear threat to every Member of Congress. It would be irresponsible for us to allow her to use the ‘People’s House’ as a platform to peddle discredited conspiracy theories that only fan the flames of hatred and violence. This is the same rhetoric that provoked the lawlessness we saw during the January 6th Domestic Terrorist attack. We must do everything we can to prevent similar events from occurring ever again.’

Williams added that Greene “should resign immediately to allow someone to fill her seat who believes in upholding the Constitution and the mission of this legislative body to serve all people, not harm them.”

Greene, for her part, has refused to acknowledge wrongdoing on her part. In an angry public statement from earlier this week, she blamed criticism that she has faced on a “mob,” adding that “MAGA reinforcements are on the way,” utilizing disturbingly violent and cultish language to characterize her relationship to her political opponents. On Twitter this Saturday, Greene said that she spoke with ex-President Donald Trump on the phone and had his support.
