President Joe Biden has taken the helm of this great 245-year-old democracy to steer it through the troubled waters of the Big Lie, a failed coup, and crippling national fear. Oh, and there is the pandemic. So he really does not have much time for a pissant such as this guy from Fox.
Our president is trying to halt racist thieves from carrying the right to vote away into the night. He has to drag a party resistant to change into a transformation reality, not of the past but of the future. All the while, President Biden is fighting off the not-so-Grand Old Party’s race toward authoritarianism.
Sparks flew during a Wednesday press conference when Fox News’ reporter Peter Doocy asked him about a The Wall Street Journal report. Keep in mind who owns the newspaper, none other than that hawker of tripe hiding behind a great paper’s withering reputation. That is right, Rupert Murdock. It read:
‘The Biden administration is in talks to offer immigrant families that were separated during the Trump administration around $450,000 a person in compensation, according to people familiar with the matter, as several agencies work to resolve lawsuits filed on behalf of parents and children who say the government subjected them to lasting psychological trauma.’
Doocy asked:
‘Do you think that that might incentivize more people to come over illegally?’
President Biden took Doocy on head first:
‘If you guys keep sending that garbage out, yeah. But it’s not true.’
Doocy tried to keep up with the president, but he was way out-classed:
‘So this is a garbage report?’
POTUS responded straight-forwardly:
‘Yeah. That’s not going to happen.’
Doocy says he is just a “straight news reporter doing his job.” But The Politico reported:
‘Other media-watchers and TV rivals see his sharp-edged, juxtaposition-heavy questions as veering dangerously into bad-faith trolling. Doocy, these critics charge, is a functionary for an agenda-driven network.’
MSNBC anchor Nicolle Wallace enjoyed the real-time fact-check and said:
‘Maybe he should do this every day, take questions from Fox News and knock down the disinfo at the source.’
Our president is well aware of the problem of an entire planet’s future too terrible to imagine if the Republican leaders take the House and the Senate. Their willingness to prostitute themselves to the polluting corruption of deregulation would lead straight there.
During Tuesday night’s atrocious Virginia governor’s race MSNBC coverage, former campaign manager of President Barack Obama, David Plouffe, said that the Democrats needed to realize that the Republicans are going to fight tough:
‘They will come with bigger gloves and a knife in their boot.’
Apparently, President Biden can handle it.
