Ukraine Bravely Repels Multiple Russian Invasion Attempts In Donbas

Russia invaded the Donbas (eastern) area of Ukraine in 2014, and it has been at war with the smaller nation ever since. As a result, Ukraine has battle-hardened fighters with strong motivation to save their homeland’s democracy. After Ukraine pushed back the Russians from near its capitol, Kyiv, it collected its troops for a narrower attack. But that has gone wrong, too.

Ukraine has pushed the Russians back in many battles in the Donbas area, according to a tweet by the British Intelligence:

‘Ukraine has repelled numerous Russian assaults along the line of contact in the Donbas region.’

President Vladimir Putin expected to be finished in two or three days, but the war has been raging for over two months now.

President Zelensky remained firm in his resolve that Ukraine would win this war even though Putin had his not-insignificant military pinpointed at Donbas. Ukraine’s president said Moscow had an entire army focused on the assault:

‘[The] battle for Donbas, for which they have been preparing for a very long time…no matter how many Russian soldiers are driven there.’

British Intelligence reported that Russia had indeed taken some territory:

‘[Ukraine’s resolve] has been strong [and] inflicted significant cost on Russian forces.’

Russia’s military has had two primary problems, its lack of funding and its bad morale. Generals skimmed so much money off of the military that the military north of Kyiv ran out of gas, and it gave its soldiers rations that expired in 2002. Then, too, the first soldiers to battle had no idea they were going to war. Instead, they were told that they were going on an exercise:

‘Poor Russian morale and limited time to reconstitute, re-equip and reorganise (reorganize) from poor offensives are likely hindering Russian combat effectiveness.’

Zelensky said in an address that the Russian missile launch at Odesa killed eight people, including a “three-month-old baby girl” and her mother:

‘Today Russia launched another missile strike at Ukraine, at Odesa. As of now – 8 dead. At least 18 wounded. Ordinary peaceful people. Among those killed was a 3-month-old baby girl. How did she threaten Russia? It seems that killing children is just a new national idea of the Russian Federation.’

Zelensky also said that a minimum of 18 people were injured in that blast.

One of the Ukrainian president’s advisers Tymofiy Mylovanov told CNN that there was heavy fighting in Donbas where Russia has been trying “to depopulate the east of Ukraine:”

‘[Russia was] trying to depopulate the east of Ukraine. I think the message they’re sending is very clear. If you surrender, like Crimea in 2014, nothing is going to happen to you. If you resist, like Donbas, like the east of Ukraine, you’ll be destroyed. [It] doesn’t matter if you’re military or civilians. So the message Russia is sending is, “surrender or be erased.”‘

CNBC reported that President Zelensky will ask for more weaponry when two top members of President Joe Biden’s administration visit Ukraine.

In his Easter message, the Ukrainian Deputy Commander of the Azov Regiment Svyatoslav Palamar said that Russians continued to bomb the important port city Mariupol in the southern part of the nation, according to CNN. That meant the approximately 100,000 civilians must be evacuated. :

‘Christ is Risen, dear Ukraine. Today is a big day but even so, the enemy continues to drop aerial bombs, ships fire artillery, cannons fire, enemy tanks continue to hit, infantry tries to assault.’
