Donald Trump has become Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ worst enemy. As the 2024 election nears, Fox largely dropped the ex-president like a hot rock, especially in his perception. Then owner Rupert Murdoch placed some of his mighty weight behind the governor. And Trump is enraged.
The previous president condemned the network Monday on Truth Social, saying that there was little time “left for real news” after it finished promoting DeSantis. And the former POTUS reminded his Truth Social readers that Fox promoted former Florida Governor Jeb Bush and other “losers” in 2016:
‘Fox News is promoting Ron DeSanctus so hard and so much that there’s not much time left for Real News. Reminds me of 2016 when they were pushing “JEB!” The new Fox Poll, which have always been purposely terrible for me, has “TRUMP Crushing DeSanctimonious,” but they barely show it. Instead they go with losers like Karl Rove, Paul Ryan and now, even “Yesper,” who have been wrong about everything! Isn’t there a big, beautiful, Network which wants to do well, and make a fortune besides? FAKE NEWS!’
It appears that the GOP already has a circular firing squad going full speed. Although polling for the 2024 race, in which Trump is already running but where DeSantis has yet to formally join, shows a mixed picture, there are some standout results for the governor, should he decide to run. A California poll had him up by nearly 20 percentage points among registered Republicans in the state, and the number of delegates up for grabs in that state could mean its eventual primary results have a big impact on who wins.
