In a recent interview for the progressive advocacy and media organization MeidasTouch, Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.) said he believes Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) isn’t fit for Congress. Garcia and Greene both serve on the House Oversight Committee, and they have repeatedly rebuffed each other, even if indirectly, in hearings.
Garcia cited issues including Greene’s incessant promotion of the cause of criminal defendants with cases originating with the violence of January 6, 2021. Many of these individuals have been convicted or pleaded guilty, though this judicially outlined documentation of guilt hasn’t stopped the sympathy parade. On Sunday, Greene shared on X (formerly Twitter) a seemingly low-definition political drawing meant to depict a so-called political prisoner whose case stems from the riot suffering in metal shackles and darkness. That’s where we’re at here.
Greene “obviously has no business being in Congress and is completely, in my opinion, a traitor to the country and would rather stand with folks that try to overthrow our government — and not just stand with them, but to actively defend them is really unfortunate,” Garcia said, adding: “You’ve seen she’s trying to impeach just about everybody. […] She has no clue what she’s actually doing, has no respect amongst any of her colleagues, and is just a really destructive force.”
Greene has pushed the impeachment of, besides the president, figures like Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas and FBI Director Christopher Wray. Greene, meanwhile, is also still pushing the conspiracy theory that Trump supporters were not at least primarily responsible for the violence of January 6, a conclusion the evidence rebuffs. Nobody at any point has conclusively uncovered a fed or general law enforcement collaborator orchestrating or propelling the attack. Yet, here we are.
“Every member of the Jan 6th committee, Nancy Pelosi, FBI, DOJ, DC Police, Cap Police, Jan 6 witnesses who lied, all need to be subpoenaed. Criminal referrals must be written and prosecutions MUST happen under a Trump DOJ. I’ve said it all along, MAGA did not do this,” Greene recently said on X.
