Leading Democrat Demands That Jared Kushner’s Financial ‘Grift’ Be Exposed For The Nation

On social media this week, House Oversight Committee member Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.) called renewed attention to what he termed a “grift” led by former President Donald Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner.

Kushner served in an official role in the Trump White House and now leads a highly publicized investment business that has reportedly received almost all of its money from foreign sources. A large portion of that — also infamously — has come from Saudi Arabian leadership, particularly an investment fund in the country led in part by their Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who it’s believed was involved in the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

“Jared Kushner started this fund just months after leaving the Trump White House. This grift must be investigated and we are calling on James Comer to stop stonewalling our efforts to get the facts,” Garcia wrote via his official account on X, formerly known as Twitter.

It’s unclear, of course, that Comer — the Republican who currently leads the Oversight panel — will actually make such a move, but Garcia’s comments clearly suggest that a future Democratic majority would look aggressively at potential problems associated with what Kushner is doing financially.

Some of the worries have even involved suspected arrangements when Kushner was still in power. Garcia and Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) previously accused Kushner in a letter of “apparent influence peddling and quid pro quo deals involving investments in exchange for official actions,” suggesting that was the explanation for how Kushner ended up with these dramatic business advancements after leaving federal service.

He’s seemingly out of the Trump political team as the ex-president campaigns again for the White House, but Kushner’s still Trump’s son-in-law — having married Ivanka — and close family members can give rise to concerns of a conflict of interest… though this is just the beginning of that conversation around Donald.
