Former President Donald Trump is continuing to post characteristically antagonistic reactions online amid his multiple criminal cases, a list that now includes criminal allegations related to his attempts to stay in power after the 2020 election.

On Monday, he complained on his personal account on Truth Social, which is his alternative social media site, about the push from prosecutors for a protective order in the election case that would restrict certain comments he can make. Prosecutors raised concerns after comments from the former president like a threat he’d be coming after an opponent he didn’t define in the original post itself. “IF YOU GO AFTER ME, I’M COMING AFTER YOU!” he said online. A spokesperson associated with the ex-president claimed these comments referred to special interest groups and super PACs, straining credibility for some, and a back-and-forth in court over whether to impose the protective order is presently moving forward before federal Judge Tanya Chutkan, who Trump has maligned.

“Let’s see! My political Opponent, Crooked Joe Biden, tells Merrick Garland and the DOJ to indict and arrest me on bogus charges and accusations, trying desperately to steal the Election,” Trump claimed on Truth Social. “But that wasn’t enough! He now wants Thug Prosecutor, Deranged Jack Smith, to file for a Court Order taking away my first amendment rights, SPEECH. So, based on yet another Radical Left Hoax, I’ll be the only “Politician” in American history not allowed to SPEAK. THE NEVER ENDING WITCH HUNT CONTINUES. MAGA!”

There is no available evidence that indicates the incumbent president directed that Trump be criminally charged in any of the cases he is now facing, and neither is there evidence that Biden pushed for prosecutors to seek a protective order that would restrict the ex-president. And critically, the order if imposed would not completely bar his ability to comment publicly on this or other matters.
